This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Ofelia Rauch, who was born in Romania on September 23 1961 and passed away on August 5 2007 at the age of 45. We will remember her forever.

Ofelia has graced all of us with her warmth, kindness and glowing smile. The realization that her journey through this life has ended is both shocking and devastating for everyone that knew her.

This site is intended to be a place for Ofelia's vast network of family and friends to memorialize her. Please feel free to post your condolences on the page and, if possible, contribute any stories, poems, photos or videos.

"Ofelia Rauch a iubit muntele si s-a stins în mare.

* Instructorul de karate Ofelia Rauch a părăsit această lume în urma unui atac cardiac, în timp ce făcea un salt în mare * Dispariţia ei neaşteptată a îndoliat lumea sportului braşovean, dar şi a montaniarzilor care i-au fost tovarăşi de drumeţii.

S-a mai dus un suflet tînăr dintre noi. Braşoveanca Ofelia Rauch, cunoscută în lumea sportivă, dar şi a iubitorilor de munte, a murit în urma unui stop cardiac. Avea doar 47 de ani, o stare fizică excelentă, dar, printr-un accident stupid, în timp ce se arunca în valurile mării, inima ei a cedat subit. Înmormîntarea va avea loc astăzi, la ora 15.00, la Cimitirul Municipal. Dumnezeu s-o odihnească pe Ofelia şi să-i dea familiei puterea de a trece peste durere.

Micii karateka, mîndria ei

Despre Ofelia Rauh, preşedinte al Clubului Sportiv de Karate „Remember“ din Braşov, Monitorul Expres a scris deseori, în cadrul rubricilor sportive. „De fiecare dată cînd voiam să vorbesc despre ea, ocolea subiectul. «Lasă-mă pe mine, scrie despre aceşti copii minunaţi!», îmi spunea, încercînd să mă convingă că ea a jucat un rol modest, neînsemnat în obţinerea zecilor de medalii. Într-adevăr, copiii antrenaţi de ea au cîştigat multe premii importante. Era un instructor foarte bun, micii karatişti o ascultau şi o iubeau. Ştia să se poarte cu picii, avea chiar ea o fetiţă, acum trebuie să aibă 7 anişori. Îmi plăcea să stau de vorbă cu Ofelia, era un om deosebit, energic, plin de însufleţire. Iubea tot ce făcea“, povesteşte redactorul sportiv Violeta Sfeatcu, fosta noastră colegă, stabilită acum în Germania. În afara performanţelor sportive, Ofelia a fost un om complex şi talentat, implicat în mai multe domenii. Cînta dumnezeieşte la chitară, avea o voce curată şi un timbru aparte care te făceau să rămîi pierdut ascultînd-o cum interpretează melodii folk de mare sensibilitate. Unul dintre cîntecele ei favorite era „Cireşul“, ale cărui versuri i-au fost parcă predestinate: „Nu-i loc pentru iubire pe pămînt, Ofelia pe ape s-a-necat“.

Colindătoarea munţilor

Din adolescenţă încă, Ofelia a urcat muntele, în drumeţii, alături de grupuri de montaniarzi, sau chiar singură. „Era o fată cu mult curaj. Îmi amintesc cum a urcat singură, în plină iarnă, la Cabana Mălăieşti, pe la Hornuri. Era incredibilă. Eu n-aş fi avut curajul ei, dar ea iubea natura, muntele, peste puterea multora de a înţelege“, îşi aminteşte Christel Berbec, sau „Buni“, cum îi spun munţomanii celei care nici la 70 de ani nu se lasă de bătut cărările muntelui. „De 18 ani o cunosc pe Ofelia. Am mers mult pe munte împreună, mai ales în anii ’90. Era un camarad extraordinar, te puteai bizui pe ea, sufletistă, iubea muntele mult. Cînd a avut operaţia la genunchi, se temea că n-o să mai poată urca. Era tare nefericită. Dar a trecut cu bine şi s-a reîntors pe munte. Eu o consider unul din veteranii mişcării turistice, ca să nu mai vorbim de vocea ei deosebită“, spune Puiu Cazan, din Cîmpia Turzii, preşedintele Federaţiei Române de Turism Sportiv. Cei care au cunoscut-o şi care alături de ea au iubit muntele, sportul şi valorile artistice, o pot conduce astăzi pe ultimul drum pe Ofelia, un om care a iubit oamenii şi a cîntat despre ei."
